Texas Election Day 2020: Voter Food Specials at Austin

Early voting is now available in Travis County, and restaurants are ready to encourage people to fulfill their civic duties in the form of free or discounted food for voters. With 97 percent of registered voters and 32,000 eligible voters on the first day of early voting, restaurants offering giveaways can have their work cut out for them.

It’s important to note that it is technically illegal to offer free food and drink to voters. However, restaurants can legally circumvent this by opening offers to everyone, including those without an “I Voted” sticker.

Here are the Austin restaurants that offer free food or discounts to voters (and legally non-voters). Some are part of an initiative called #pollperks by PR firm Giant Noise. The Texas early term runs from Tuesday, October 13th through Friday, October 30th, and election day is Tuesday, November 3rd.
