Tex-Mex Restaurant Chain Chuy’s Is Opening in East Austin

The Austin-born Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s opens his first East Side Restaurant in the coming Saltillo Square Development. Austin 360 says that while there is no specific opening date, it should be sometime this year. It is slated to open in the area between I-35, 4th, 5th and Navasota.

Known for its plate, creamy jalapeno dip, and margaritas combination, this new addition to Chuy is interesting given the extreme proximity of rugged Austin Tex-Mex restaurants Cisco’s and Tamale House East.

The first Chuy’s opened on Barton Springs Road in 1982. There are currently six in the Austin area as well as numerous restaurants across the country.

Plaza Saltillo will contain both New-to-Austin and Austin locations. Whole Foods Market is opening another supermarket under development. Instead of the affordable 365 originally offered by Whole Foods, a full version of the grocery store is opening. Then there are new locations for Dolce Neve, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Tarka Indian Kitchen and Epoch Coffee. First-to-Austin restaurants and bars include the Barcelona Tapas Bar and Stout Burgers and Beers.
