Tech giant may be chipping in $10B for Austin factory and more stories

1. The tech giant could raise $ 10 billion for a new factory in Austin. The entire tech world is rife with rumors that Samsung is considering Austin for its new $ 10 billion factory. Although the chip maker has long had a presence in the capital, including a manufacturing facility in northeast Austin, the scope and scale of this project would fundamentally change the region.

2. These 10 wealthy places are among the wealthiest cities in Texas. It’s surprising that some of the richest cities in Texas aren’t anywhere near dazzling Dallas or oil-rich Houston. Texas’s richest city is a suburb of our southern neighbor, San Antonio.

3. Local doctor dead after apparent suicide in Central Austin. Dr. Katherine Lindley Dodson, a local pediatrician, was apparently killed in a suicide this week, a story that shocked the city and across the country.

4th Austin’s new $ 1 billion mixed-use development is groundbreaking near the Samsung facility. See? We just can’t get enough of this Samsung rumor. This mixed-use development is far from false news, however. A $ 1 billion project is currently under construction that will eventually include apartments, single family homes, retail and office space, restaurants, and a movie theater, much like the trendy Mueller development.

5. The sprawling outdoor entertainment complex in Austin is located on the Hill Country property. If this place sounds like a dream, that’s why. Located on 64 acres in Dripping Springs, Dreamland offers a wealth of family-friendly fun including two music stages, public artwork and murals, a variety of dining options, a beer garden and taproom, splash pads, and even designer putt-putt classes.
