Austin is on the verge of batter thanks to a popular local bakery.
Teal House Coffee & Bakery, which started as a family-run cottage business before it spawned a popular food truck, will have its prospective stationary location at 2304 S. Congress Ave. on January 30th. open.
The bread and butter on the Teal House menu are the bakery’s deliciously sweet, sticky, and sticky cinnamon rolls, available individually, by the half dozen, and by the dozen. The Teal House also serves gluten-free and vegan cinnamon rolls Thursday through Saturday.
Other drool-worthy highlights on the menu are sweet and savory kolaches and croissants, as well as newer casseroles, including additional types of rolls like sticky bourbon-pecan rolls and maple-bacon-cinnamon rolls. Teal House can also whip up whole cakes with 24 hours notice from customers. The hot and cold coffee and espresso drinks with Medici Roasting beans include various cortados, cappuccinos and lattes.
Owner Lance Phillips, who started the bakery business from home in 2016 to help finance a family outing to Disney World with his wife and five children, went looking for a stationary location after the bakery’s demand for the cinnamon rolls showed The business was ripe for growth.
“We love our food truck,” says Phillips. “We’ll always remember our early days in the trailer well, but as we grew it was a bit painful to know that our capacity was very limited. Our storefront allows us to serve a wider variety of foods to more people. Guests expect fresh baked goods and excellent customer service, as well as a few new goodies. “
Due to the safety concerns of COVID-19, the Teal House is opening with limited service capacity and only offers goodies to take away on the roadside and through the pickup window. Indoor dining won’t be offered until further notice, but fans can check Teal House’s social media channels for updates on when the dining room will open.
The new Teal House location is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Customers can order online for collection. Teal House’s food truck will continue to operate from its location on East Slaughter Lane.
