eater turned his attention to Texas for his next regional guide, and it’s just over. Eaters roving restaurant critic Bill Addison compiled the list of 38 top restaurants in the state of Lone Star, including seven locations in Austin.
Austin’s selection includes the terrace With you, grain-obsessed Emmer & Rye, award-winning Franklin barbecue, Japanese Texas Izakaya Kemuri Tatsu-ya, New American Funny duck, legendary Tex-Mex spot Tamale House Eastand taco queens from Veracruz all natural. Also included was Pitmaster Tootsie Tomanetz’s barbecue area Snow BBQ out in Lexington.
“In our choices, we tried to portray as many aspects of Austin food as possible,” Addison told Eater. “I wrote the least thing in Austin because it’s the most media-loved place in Texas (America?), And I wanted to make sure other cities got their fault.” Houston has ten restaurants, Dallas five, Fort Worth two and San Antonio five.
