Uncle Nicky’s adds another branch to the family tree. The Italy-inspired all-day cafe in Hyde Park is opening a second restaurant, which will officially open in East Austin on Monday 9 December.
The restaurant is located in the Hotel Eleven at 1123 E. 11th St. and offers the same mix of Northern Italian-inspired dishes and artisanal cocktails that fans flock to the original. Enjoy antipasti, pane tostato, salads and classic sandwiches daily, or enjoy off-menu specialties and dishes during Uncle Nicky’s weekend brunch. Those who like it sweet can choose from homemade pastries and ice cream, among other things.
Cocktails – Uncle Nicky’s unexpected star – are also inspired by Italy and include spritzers, negronis, and even a frozen campari and soda. Amaros, Italian wines and beers are also available.
At the head of the operation are partner Nic Yanes, owner / chef of Juniper; Brandon and Zane Hunt from Via 313; and Travis Tober, who also owns Nickel City, is just two doors down from the new Uncle Nicky’s locale.
“Expanding into East Austin and the neighborhood of our friends in Nickel City has been a goal and we’re excited to open in the neighborhood,” said Yanes, who oversees Uncle Nicky’s nutrition program in addition to Juniper and Verbena downtown.
Like the Hyde Park location, which took over the former Dolce Vita area in February 2019, the new location on the east side will have takeout options and an outdoor dining area to encourage social distancing.
Although the new location will officially open on Monday, there will be a soft launch from Saturday, December 5th. To celebrate the new excavations on the east side, the team offers a free sweet treat when buying filter coffee or cold beer and a free Montenegro of a cocktail or beer specialty (while stocks last).
