Dallas restaurant group imports Asian-fusion concept to North Austin

A Dallas-based restaurant group is adding a new restaurant in the Northside domain to its Austin portfolio. Lombardi Family Concepts, which also owns the downtown brunch staple tavern, announced it is opening Joi, a modern Asian fusion restaurant specializing in sushi, Asian street food, and more. (A lot more.)

Although menu details were not given, Joi promises “fresh, affordable” street foods from across the Asian continent. In addition to sushi, guests can choose between Asian fried chicken and wings, poke, tempura and ramen. Other menu highlights include specialties such as ententacos or shishito peppers with bubbles.

The menu is rounded off by craft cocktails, a publication promises.

Joi will replace the Toulouse Cafe & Bar at 3120 Palm Way # 150 in late October. Toulouse, also owned by Lombardi Family Concepts, was closed earlier this week, the company said.

“We look forward to welcoming our long-time friends and new guests to JOI for a fun, fresh version of Asian street food, sushi and cocktails,” said Alberto Lombardi, founder and owner of Lombardi Family Concepts, in one Press release. “We are very pleased to introduce this new dining concept to the Austin community, which we have been offering for four years at our locations in Taverna and Toulouse at Domain NORTHSIDE.”

Apart from the now closed Toulouse, the restaurant group has two locations in the Taverna area, including one in the city center and one nearby in Domain Northside. In addition to Austin, the company also operates restaurants in Dallas, Las Vegas, and Mexico.

At the moment, the Lombardi family seems to be doubling over the burgeoning development in North Austin. Lombardi: “We are excited to be investing again in NORTHSIDE with this new and exciting restaurant.”
