Cold Weather Shelters Activated in Austin Amid Winter Storm

AUSTIN, Texas – A winter storm through central Texas caused Austin Emergency Management to open cold weather shelters on Sunday evening.

According to the Twitter post, single adults can seek refuge at the Central Library (710 W Cesar Chavez) between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Families in need of protection will have access to the Salvation Army shelter downtown at 501 E. 8th Street after 6:00 p.m.

Cold weather shelters were activated 1/10 tonight. Single adults in need of accommodation should report to the Central Library (710 W Cesar Chavez) between 6pm and 8pm. Families in need of protection should report to the Salvation Army Protection Center downtown at 501 E. 8th Street by 6:00 p.m.

Temperatures in Austin are expected to hover around freezing (32 degrees) through Sunday evening.
