Chappelle Tests Positive for COVID-19; Austin Show Canceled

AUSTIN, Texas – Dave Chappelle tested positive for the coronavirus just before his comedy show scheduled for Thursday and canceled his upcoming appearances, a spokeswoman said.

Chappelle was scheduled to perform at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, Texas Thursday through Sunday. Those shows have been canceled and Chappelle is being quarantined, his rep Carla Sims said in a statement. The comedian is asymptomatic.

Chappelle had been performing socially distant shows in Ohio since June and relocated his shows to Austin this winter, Sims said. Rapid tests for the audience and daily tests for Chappelle and his team were carried out.

Comedian Joe Rogan was scheduled to appear on the shows on Friday and Saturday. He apologized to followers on Instagram for the canceled shows and said they would be postponed. A post earlier this week showed Rogan on Stubb with Chappelle and other stars like Donnell Rawlings, Ron White and Elon Musk.

Refunds are available to ticket holders at the time of purchase.
