Amplify Austin – the epic day of giving in town – returns for the ninth time of the year from March 4th to 5th in what could turn out to be the most important year of all time.
For those in need of a little refresher, Amplify Austin I Live Here, I Give Here is an annual 24-hour bonanza where nonprofits across town vie for donations of $ 5 or more. During the day I sponsor here, I give sponsors special virtual events, partnerships and community challenges here to encourage Austinities to give a lot to their beloved local organizations. (A full list of prizes and matching donations can be found here.)
This year, more than 675 audited local nonprofits from the following seven counties in central Texas will participate: Travis, Hays, Williamson, Burnet, Bastrop, Caldwell and Blanco.
As part of the celebration, attendees will be able to join a special virtual fundraising party starting Thursday, March 4th at 6:00 p.m. and Friday, March 5, at 6:00 p.m. Follow AmplifyATX.org for the celebration, in partnership with C3 gifts and appearances from local business leaders such as Liz Lambert and Graham Williams; Media personalities like Joah Spearman from Localeur; and appearances by David Ramirez, Mélat, Alex Maas (The Black Angels) and Loulou Ghelichkhani (Thievery Corporation and Night Glitter) among others.
The fun officially begins on Thursday at 6pm, but attendees are now free to donate and their donations will continue to count as part of Amplify Austin. Use the search bar to browse by category (animal services, food banks, and racial justice are just three examples), or find your preferred nonprofit by name. Then just click and donate.
This year, in response to last month’s winter storms, I Live Here, I Give Here launched the ILHIGH Amplify: Disaster Relief Fund, a dedicated gift fund designed to support more than 130 organizations in central Texas whose mission is on one of the following tasks focuses on cause categories: basic needs; Disaster relief and emergency aid; human services; and / or housing, shelter and homelessness.
Also new this year is I Live Here I Give Here’s partnership with The New Philanthropists. The partnership “offer[s] An additional $ 13,500 matching gift pool for organizations participating in both Amplify Austin Day and The New Philanthropists Board Matching Program. This program gives leaders a chance to seat color representatives and provides programming opportunities for nonprofits looking to create a more inclusive environment, “he says of a publication.
As in all years, Amplify Austin’s goals for 2021 are ambitious. This year, Amplify Austin is asking the community to double their attendance from previous years to 60,000 individual donors. The organization also hopes to raise $ 12.3 million in just 24 hours for nonprofits from last year.
