An Austin woman urges other drivers in her own neighborhood to be careful after her vehicle was attacked by a couple of men while driving and the incident was caught on camera.

Danielle Cotey was driving home in her neighborhood when she came across a suspicious driver.

“A car came up behind me, horned very loudly and passed me on the left. At the time I thought I was going slowly and they were trying to overtake me,” said Cotey.

A nearby house captured the rest of the incident on camera. As soon as the car comes to a stop in front of Cotey, a man gets out and approaches her car.

“I had a more urgent feeling that I should go so I started walking around them on the left and by that point he threw something on my car,” said Cotey.

The other car then tries to stop in front of her so that she can stop again. She then races past both of them, cars collide. Cotey escaped and called the police. “It wasn’t until I spoke to the police and they told me it fits the description of the recent carjacking that I moved up north of town and then got even more concerned,” said Cotey.

Now she’s asking other drivers to be on alert in their own neighborhood too.

“The police said they probably targeted me because they saw it was a woman alone, and that’s terrifying because this neighborhood has a lot of mothers driving around and driving with children. I suggest being extra aware that this can happen anywhere, even down the street your house, “said Cotey.
