Round Rock just continues to grow. It ranks 8th among the fastest growing cities in the country in a new report.
The ranking, posted on the WalletHub personal finance website on October 12, included growth data for seven years for 515 US cities. WalletHub compared cities using 17 metrics, including population growth, economic growth, and employment growth.
In the end, Round Rock ranked:
No. 5 for fastest growth among medium-sized cities.
No. 13 for sociodemography.
The Austin suburb, however, ranked a mid-59th place in terms of employment and economy, which is surprising given how well the region performed during the recent recession.
It’s no wonder Round Rock consistently takes places in national rankings. Earlier this year, it earned a spot among the best cities in the United States and the fastest growing cities. In 2019 it was named America’s “coolest” suburb by a prominent design location.
Frisco near Dallas reached the highest rank in Texas at # 6.
Like Round Rock, Frisco is no stranger to awards. In 2018, Money named Frisco the Best Place to Live in America. And the city even recently appeared on a ranking of the best places in the country to be stuck at home during the pandemic. The city recently secured third spot on WalletHub’s list of the best cities to buy a home for.
Six other cities in Texas made the top 30:
McKinney, No. 11
Sugar Land, No. 16
Midland, No. 17
College Station, No. 20
Pearland, No. 26
Richardson, No. 30
