Austin, Texas – – Austin Public Health officials provide updates on the latest COVID-19 numbers and answer questions from the media.
Today’s update comes after APH said it was closely monitoring the data after the weekly average for hospital admissions was the trigger for moving Austin to level 5 COVID-19 risk category last week.
The city of Austin and Travis County have also extended their COVID-19 orders through mid-February.

The orders will remain in effect until February 16. The Austin-Travis County Health Department also extended the health authority’s rules to April 15.
The City of Austin and Travis County ordinances expand the existing requirements for face covering, social distancing, and congregation restrictions. The orders also add quarantine requirements, which the city and county says are in line with Austin Public Health’s updated quarantine guidelines.
