AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police are looking for the suspect who was charged in two robberies in north Austin that occurred within two hours early Monday morning.
Police said the first robbery took place at 1:10 a.m. at Tortas y Tacos Dos Hermanos on North Lamar Boulevard. Two workers came closer when the suspect approached them and held them at gunpoint. Demanding money, he ran away and got into a white limousine before setting off with an unknown amount of money.
Police said the second robbery occurred around 2:31 a.m. at the Taqueria la Chilanguita food stand on East Rundberg Lane. The suspect approached four workers who were approaching and tried to rob them at gunpoint. A worker hit the suspect with a pan and threw hot oil at him. The suspect then left.
No one was injured in both robberies, the police said.
APD describes the suspect as a black man between 5’8 “and 6” tall, armed with a silver / black weapon, who was last seen in black clothing. He can be burned from hot oil.

This isn’t the first time Tortas y Tacos dos Hermanos has been robbed at gunpoint. APD reported that the food truck was targeted as early as January during another string of food truck robberies.
