Austin man arrested in highway accident that killed 8 illegal immigrants
The fatal accident occurred on Monday afternoon about 30 miles north of Del Rio, a city on the border between the United States and Mexico.
Austin, Texas – – Texas DPS soldiers arrested an Austin man for a crash that killed eight undocumented immigrants.
24-year-old Sebastian Tovar is accused of transporting illegal aliens who lead to death.
The fatal accident occurred on Monday afternoon about 30 miles north of Del Rio, a city on the border between the United States and Mexico. Soldiers allegedly chased the truck Tovar was driving after attempting to stop it for speeding.
Tovar’s vehicle then hit another vehicle head-on. He also tried to escape on foot after the crash but was taken into custody, officials added.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that a red Dodge pickup truck dodged by DPS soldiers en route on US 277 when it had a head-on collision with a white Ford F-150,” the Texas Department of Public Security said in a statement opposite Fox News. “Due to injuries, 8 undocumented passengers were declared dead by the Dodge pickup on site.”
Tovar faces life in prison if convicted.
