As we prepare to have another great vacation in the comfort of home, it’s nice to know that Austin is one of the best cities to celebrate Christmas with.
Financial resource WalletHub recently released its latest list of the 100 largest US cities based on 15 indicators of “a safe and affordable Christmas”. With a total score of 60.06, the capital ranks 18th in the overall standings and second in Texas, only 9th from Plano.
Austin ranks ninth in the Traditions and Foods category and 22nd for safety, based on average COVID-19 cases and deaths. On the individual indicators, Austin ranks 13th for bakeries per capita, 22nd place on Google searches for “Christmas party”, 22nd place on restaurant meal costs, and 24th place on Christmas tree farms per capita – everything you need for Merry Christmas.
But where is our Christmas spirit? According to the study, Austin ranks 51st, and the city ranks 46th in the observation category and 72nd in the generosity category.
If you’re (for sure) venturing on vacation, the Lone Star State has several other places on the lovely list. Fort Worth (21), Houston (22) and Dallas (23) also land in the top 25.
