Austin Hot Chicken Restaurant Tumble 22 Is Opening in Round Rock

Hot Chicken Restaurant Extension
The local hot chicken chain Tumble 22 is growing rapidly: The company will expand to its fourth location in Austin, Round Rock, 2111 North I-35. There is no set opening date yet. In 2020 alone, the group opened restaurants in Cedar Park and West Austin (in the former Magnolia Cafe West). Co-partners Larry Foles and Chef Harold Marmulstein (who runs the New American Restaurant Salty Sow) first opened Tumble 22 as a food truck on West Fifth Street in 2017, which became a restaurant on Burnet Road in 2018. There will also be a location outside of Houston as of December 2020.

Taco truck owner’s heart surgery fundraiser
Cuantos Tacos owner Luis “Beto” Robledo is going to have a heart operation. To help, other taco spots in Austin are rallying to raise funds to fund the operation and to provide additional funding for the cook and his family during this time. The taco trucks Discada and La Tunita 512, the taco restaurant Nixta Taqueria and the pizza truck Dough Boys started a GoFundMe campaign. Each spot also sells a special T-shirt, for which all funds are used for the campaign and are available in the respective web stores.

Austin Food Trucks collaborative sausage
New school grill truck LeRoy & Lewis and seafood truck Huckleberry have teamed up to create a collaboration sausage. The resulting combination consists of prawns from the Gulf Coast, meat from Peaceful Pork and a special blend of spices by chefs Evan LeRoy and Davis Turner, respectively. LeRoy’s version, the Shrimp-Cago Dog, contains sport peppers, green relish, celery salt, cucumber, onions, tomatoes and mustard. Huckleberrys Take is the Dockside Dog with escabeche, beer mustard, coriander, spring onions and papalo, served on a challah bun. It’s available through Sunday, January 24th, on both trucks – LeRoy at Cosmic Coffee and Huckleberry at Circle Brewing. It will be available for personal pickups from yesterday January 20 through Sunday January 24 (host sites have reopened for on-site services).

Italian restaurant anniversary specials
East Austin’s Intero Italian restaurant is celebrating its three year anniversary with a range of specials for takeout and dinner from Thursday January 21 through Sunday January 24. burnt pizza as well as a burger and cocktail.

Hill Country Beer Label art competition
Driftwood brewery Vista Brewing is holding an art competition to complete the label of their upcoming beer, the Bee Cave Honey Wheat. Entries will be accepted until Friday, January 29th. The winner’s design will be used for the beer. They also receive cans of beer, a glass of honey from the brewery and a gift card. The competition is run with the Bee Cave Arts Foundation. Part of the proceeds from the sale of beer go to charitable organizations.
