KVUE – Say goodbye to the two hour deadline for parking downtown.
From Tuesday September 1st you can park in the same place for up to 10 hours. However, the longer you park the cost increases.
“We’re introducing a more flexible on-street parking system,” Austin Transportation director Robert Spillar wrote in a memo to the city council. “These deadlines do not take into account human error or any other circumstance that could affect a parking session.”
Spillar said failing to pay for parking quotes “can have consequences that exacerbate inequalities in our community,” including credit score issues or possible loss of property.
The first two hours of downtown parking are $ 2 each. From there the costs increase in stages.
