Craft beer and soccer go hand in hand, and a new hyperlocal collaboration will make Austin FC’s inaugural season even more exciting. The first home game begins on June 19 in the brand new Q2 stadium.

Austin Beerworks is an owner-run brewery known for its ubiquitous Pearl Snap and Fire Eagle beers. Rally fans are one of their specialties. They have just announced a partnership with Austin Anthem – the original and largest football fanatics in Austin – to bring out 17 uniquely designed cans to commemorate every home game of Austin FC’s first MLS season.

From the press release, “We didn’t see what big business having an MLS team would be for Austin,” said Michael Graham, co-founder of Austin Beerworks. “When we first met with Austin Anthem to do something special for this first season, their passion and excitement at finally having a home team to support was super contagious and we went a little overboard.”

The collector’s special edition for each of the team’s 17 home games for the 2021 season was designed by Austin Beerworks’ brand partner Helms Workshop. “As football fans, we were thrilled to be part of something that is so monumental to Austin,” said designers Greg Thomas and Zach Wieland of Helms Workshop. “We were inspired by vintage sports program covers and loved bringing the mascots to life. We’ve created Austin Beerworks’ own version of the Austin Anthem Grackle along with each opposing team’s mascot to create an original, collectable set of cans that will commemorate this historic season. ”

Each can design is limited to just 500 and contains one of Austin Beerworks’ year-round or seasonal beers. They will be released exclusively in the Austin Beerworks taproom, which is less than 1 mile from Q2 Stadium in north Austin, the week of the match in question.

“We’re proud to partner with Austin Beerworks on this special project that will make every home game even more fun in 2021,” said Josh Babetski, founder and president of Austin Anthem. “One of Austin Anthem’s core values is promoting local businesses, so we appreciate showing our love for Austin FC while highlighting one of the best-known craft breweries in our city.”
