It may be a little longer before we vacation (remember these?) But when we do, JetBlue will launch three new non-stop flights from Austin.
From the beginning of 2021, the airline will begin non-stop service from the capital to San Francisco. Raleigh, North Carolina; and Cancun. The airline announced the new flights on December 17, along with a number of expansion plans for hubs across the country.
The direct connection from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to San Francisco International Airport will begin on February 11, 2021. Flights depart from Austin six days a week at 6:30 pm and arrive at SFO at 8:40 pm local time. The return flights start at 11 a.m. in San Fran and arrive back at the ATX at 4:30 p.m.
Also starting February 11th, JetBlues will be operating nonstop between ABIA and Raleigh-Durham International Airport. This flight currently runs four days a week.
From March 4, 2021, the airline will fly non-stop to Cancun International Airport three times a week. Flights are currently available on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays and depart daily at 11:08 am.
The news comes amid a major push by JetBlue to offset massive losses from the pandemic. The airline added 24 new non-stop routes in the first half of 2021. “All routes aim to generate cash instantly and to capture traffic where the airline operates anticipating customer demand,” JetBlue said in a press release.
“This year has driven us to find new ways to do our business and we have adapted at an unprecedented pace, rotating our network in response to changing customer demand,” said Scott Laurence, Head of Sales and Planning at JetBlue “We continue to be offended to generate cash and support our business recovery. These network expansions are helping to optimize our geography in ways that make sense in today’s marketplace.”
