APD identifies pedestrian killed in South Austin earlier this month

Austin Police have identified the 65-year-old pedestrian who was killed in South Austin last month as Steven James Ingram.

According to the police, the fatal crash happened on Sunday, February 7, shortly after 6:30 p.m. Ingram was hit by a black Lexus ES 250 in 2008 at the intersection of W. Ben White Boulevard and Menchaca Road.

According to police, Ingram crossed the northeast corner to the northwest corner of the intersection. A witness had told investigators that traffic on Menchaca Road heading north / south was green at the time of the crash, meaning Ingram likely hit the street lamp.

Steven Ingram was looked after by first responders with ATCEMS and AFD on site, but was ultimately declared deceased at 7:09 p.m.

The Lexus driver stayed on site and, according to the police, is cooperating with the investigation. No fees are currently expected.
