Amazon creates more than 1,700 full- and part-time jobs in the Austin area, the e-commerce giant announced on September 14.
In central Texas, jobs are available in Austin, Kyle, Round Rock, and San Marcos, according to Amazon’s employment website. The jobs are located on Amazon’s operating network, which includes fulfillment centers, delivery stations, sorting centers and airport hubs. In the US and Canada, Amazon is opening 100 new buildings on its corporate network this month.
In total, Amazon is hiring 100,000 operations workers in the US and Canada. The new jobs pay at least $ 15 an hour and offer immediate benefits. In some cities, Amazon is offering sign-up bonuses of $ 1,000.
On September 9, Amazon announced that 33,000 corporate and technology jobs would be filled in the United States. These jobs also pay at least $ 15 an hour and offer immediate benefits. On September 16, Amazon is holding its annual Careers Day to find candidates for the 33,000 open positions.
On its employment website, Amazon lists available corporate and technology jobs in Austin, such as: B. software developer, IT manager, support engineer, account manager and pharmacist (Amazon owns the PillPack online pharmacy).
“COVID-19 continues to affect millions of people across the country and people are excited about the opportunity to get back to work,” said Beth Galetti, Amazon’s senior vice president of human resources, in a September 9 press release. “We have created more jobs in the US in the last decade than any other company – and we continue to hire people from different backgrounds and skill levels.”
According to the Austin Business Journal, Seattle-based Amazon employs 4,000 people in the Austin area and its Whole Foods Market subsidiary has an additional 2,600 employees.
