Openings and closings
Diners, drive-ins and dives approved restaurant OneTaco According to a Facebook post, it is rolling to a third location and opening the Frost Tower in Austin in March 2020. No word yet on whether the menu will be the same as the other outposts, including Guy Fieri’s favorite ticket to Flavortown – the Taco Yucateco.
Speaking of tacos in the city center, Velvet taco Schedule an opening date for Austin’s newest restaurant in the historic Scarborough Building at 522 Congress Ave., Ste. 100. In a Facebook comment, a rep for the funky Dallas restaurant said the location was aiming for a debut on February 24th.
A public listing from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission revealed that Sixth Street is about to hit with a new nightclub. Whim has applied for late-hour mixed drink permits at 302-304 E. Sixth St., a location that previously housed the Vice Bar and Terminal 6, among others. Whether the spot breaks EDM or Hip Hop remains to be seen. The concept doesn’t seem to have a web presence yet.

Whole food market brings Italy to Austin during a free pop-up experience on February 20th. Although the location won’t be announced until attendees are registered, the grocer promises a “parade of Italian courses,” paired wines, and a Parmigiano-Reggiano bike. Cracking demonstration. Tickets are available here from February 13th at 1 p.m.
The Roosevelt room, the 2019 Tastemaker Award winner for Bar of the Year, has announced a schedule of programs that will bring some of the country’s best mixologists to the capital. On February 16, bartenders from Kansas City, J. Rieger & Co. from Missouri, and Ryan Maybee and Trevor Frye from beverage company Q Mixers will enter the mezzanine bar from 7:00 p.m. to midnight. The event will be followed by acquisitions of Rob Roy of Seattle on February 24, Phoenix Century Grand and Platform 18 on March 2, and Swordfish Tom’s of Kansas City on May 4.
Celebrated food truck Brooklyn breakfast shop zooms in Bar peach For a brunch pop-up on March 1st. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the Clarksville location has a special menu of pork belly sand, confit duck hash, and Johnny cake. The event will be a homecoming for the Brooklyn owner Ryan Rosenwho is a Peached Tortilla Alumna.
