4 Austin entrepreneurs rank among Forbes’ richest self-made women

She may not be a household name, but she is an Austin tech entrepreneur Thai Lee is richer than Oprah Winfrey and deserves a spot among the 10 richest women in America

Forbes places Lee at number 8 on its new list of America’s Richest Homemade Women, with an estimated net worth of $ 3.2 billion. Forbes estimates Winfrey’s net worth at $ 2.6 billion, which puts her in ninth place.

Lee, a native of Taiwan, holds an MBA from Harvard University. She is the founder, president, and CEO of SHI International Corp., a provider of IT products and services with projected sales of $ 11 billion in 2020. SHI is headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey, but is located in Austin the call center from SHI.

A total of four women entrepreneurs from Austin appear in the ranking. The four Austin women join four other Texans from Dallas-Fort Worth in the elite club of America’s richest self-made women:
